The Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea Party was Americans throwing tea into the ocean. The British raised the tax on tea and other products. The Americans were angry about not getting a vote. This and many protests led to the Revolutionary War.

After the French and Indian War, the British knew that the Americans should pay too so they raised taxes. The only thing that was unfair, was that the Americans had no say about it. The Boston Tea Party happened because of the tax on tea.

Soon after the signing of the tea tax, the American’s protesting escalated. The Boston Tea party was a protest when Americans dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. The Americans got even angrier when British Redcoats killed four Americans in what is known as the Boston Massacre.

Eventually, the Americans could not deal with the British aggression anymore, so they signed the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence is a document that says that America is independent from Great Britain. Soon after the Declaration of Independence was signed, fighting erupted.
